Snowdonia Society Slams Ugly Bridge
Watchdog organisation the Snowdonia Society is up in arms over a new footbridge in the hills near Capel Curig which it describes as 'resembling a wooden bedstead'. How bad is it? Judge for yourself...

Sweet baby jesus and all the little orphans....
How much did that thing cost? I could have made a cheaper, more aesthetically pleasing one i'm sure...

'Mr James added: "It's also ru-

moured the new bridge's 6ft high parapets were necessary for horses which don't like looking down on fast flowing water.

"But all riders we've spoken to say they would ford such a small stream rather than using the bridge." '

I'd second that...

The answer is simple: transport those footbridge-burning wild campers from the Lakes to remove it as their community service punishment.

Does anyone here know exactly where the bridge is? I was camping at Crafnant last week and didn't notice it.

I went over it in May, part complete and comments were made at time that it was an out of place monstrosity. To answer Ben Bloggs' question, I think it is here on multimap: http://tinyurl.com/qfndg
just south of the 'r' of Clogwyn Mawr. HTH. Please correct me if this isn't correct!

This is on of the most dreadful demonstrations of safty overkill I have seen. Are they worried people may fall in the stream. What is next Railings up on Tryfan, Why not fence off the whole stream while they are at it.

While on about bridges, there's a particularly obvuious one above Capel, on the way to Llyn Cowlyd.

From a distance it looks like it's made of aluminium or somesuch material and i was not overly impressed.

On closer inspection, it's a very well built new timber bridge over the weir (you need a safe bridge over this, unlike the one mentioned above). Hopefully, as it weathers it will not be so conspicuous. Anyone else spotted it?
