An article should be appearing shortly but here is advance notice for anyone interested.
On Sunday 17th September Edale Mountain Rescue is hosting the Nine Edges Endurance Challenge to raise money for our new base. The aim is to cover the 20 miles between Fairholmes and Baslow with climbers climbing a route of their choice on each of the nine edges, namely Derwent, Stanage, Burbage North, Burbage South, Froggatt, Curbar, Baslow, Gardoms and Birchens. Refreshments will be available at key points.
Anyone wishing further information is welcome to email me via the forum.
Go on, you know you can't resist a challenge ;-)

Should be some news on the site on Monday btw. I haven't forgotten :-)
Cheers Jon, it wasn't aimed as reminder for you honestly.
Anything to keep <bumping> the post ;-)
Is this a climbers only thing or can anyone join in??
Although I think I am meant to be in the lakes that weekend :-))
 So what happened to Lawrencefield?
Anyone can take part, it's just the climbers who have to climb a route, the walkers and runners just have to cover the 20 miles.
The more the merrier
If you want to do lawrencefield as well Dave, feel free. Ask the powers that be why it's not included, but its probably due to lojistics and popularity.
Presumably Lawrencefield & Millstone are omitted because they are quarries. Several natural edges are missing the obvious one is Higgar Tor.
Can see see everyone queueing to do the Rasp.
A one MRT supporting another type bump
email us the details Judith and i'll probably turn up
Was meant to be doing a 20 mile trail run darn sarf that weekend, but this is nearer and a far better cause so should hopefully be there to run it (slowly).

 Good to hear Darren.
Gutted I can't do this since I'm in the Lakes. Dashing about between crags sounds like my idea of fun!
Sounds good - but that 600 feet height gain won't go far - metres maybe?
it says feet on the form.
If it along the tops of curbar, baslow, etc there's not much variation in height.
but agree, it does sound quite flat!
 <bump>
any news on route or on-the-day entries yet Judith?
The height gain is nearer 600 metres apparently - the Fell Runners Association have permitted the event and they do a software route log. This also means UKA insurance is valid for FRA members.

Sorry for not getting back sooner Darren, but the only information I got when I requested more was what I'd already made available to everybody.
Having spoken to one of the people involved yesterday, there is no set route, however you must visit each check point. Other than that it is up to you to choose the most obvious route. Having looked at the map I don't think there are really many variations.
Bewarned everyone that kit checks will be taking place.
As for the 600ft / 600 metres you are quite correct it is 600 metres. The problem is when the young wipper snappers of the team (who are used to dealing in metres) pass on information to the more senior members who still work in feet.
Hopefully I will see some of you there on the day. Don't know what I'll be doing or where I will be, but I'll be around somewhere.
do they intend to publish the checkpoints and required kit list in advance. They really aren't helping themselves get this event established or to maximise their income from it.
There is no mention of this event at all on the mrt web site. They don't seem to be marketing it very well.
I'll drop them a mail and see if I can get any more info. If so, I'll post it up.

The Challenge is on the site under fundraising/news:

Best bet is email Neil Roden he's been very helpful.
I think not knowing the checkpoints til the day would be part of the challenge.
