We are going to Wales in a few weeks and will mostly hike in the Brecon Beacon park. I already find out wehere we can buy campingaz (or coleman gaz) in Cardiff, but I was wondering if it is also possible to buy it somewehere in Brecon Beacon? Actually I really don't know if campingaz is common in the UK.
Another option would be to buy a burner for an alternative fuel, but since we already have a small campingaz burner (Twister). Thanks!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is camping gaz not a different thing entirely to coleman gas? I always thought camping gaz was for caravan stoves and the like? I know you can get gaz burners of a smaller type, but i didnt think they were coleman-like

The Twister stove made by Camping Gaz takes Camping Gaz cv270 cartridges which I've not had any problem getting in S.Wales - Crickhowell Adventure have stores in Brecon, Abergavenny and Crickhowell, though I don't know if they sell that particular type. But you can also get them in Argos catalogue store - there are several within striking distance of the Brecon Beacons, including Merthyr Tydfil and Abergavenny - use the 'store locator' button to find the nearest.

You are totally right Metric Kate, it's the CV270 (or the bigger CV470 I think).
Thanks for your info!

Crickhowell Adventure Gear is long gone from Abergavenny. It's yet another coffee shop now. But you can get the camping gas in Millets in Abergavenny. Or indeed Argos.

Crickhowell Adventure gear is in the village of Crickhowell and is still very much alive and kicking AND still stocking camping gas!

I'm referring to the branch in ABERGAVENNY Tony, which closed this year. Crickhowell and , as far as I know, Brecon branches are still open. I was clarifying Kate's post.

Personally the owner in crickhowell always manages to give me the impression he is doing me a colossal favour selling me anything, which probably explains why 'Up and Under' in Cardiff gets all my 'non-online' business these days.

John already knows about Up & Under from an earlier thread! Didn't know about the Abergavenny branch closing - haven't been into the town for years now - their website needs updating cos I checked where their branches were from that!

Sorry Rob, I didn't read Kate's reference so assumed that you didn't know that it was only the branch in Abergavenny that had shut up shop.

I have known John, the owner for years, so I will have to have a word in his shell like, treating OMers in such a condescending fashion!

Trekett in the town was another casualty too, although I think the branch in Monmouth is still open.

Up and under are a good firm, allbeit in the wrong location really, and if you are looking for the shop, it is very easy to miss on Cowbridge road. What amazes me is that it is like the Tardis once inside, with a HUGEinterior that you would never suspect is there looking at it from the outside!

No problem Tony. I had exactly the same reaction to Up & Under when I first went there, you think it's going to be tiny until you get inside. You're right about the location though.

Still, at least up & under knows where Cardiff is! what's with the 'Cardiff' branch of Cotswolds? Llantrisant is not Cardiff.

While we're at it, can anyone of you Welsh chaps tell me exactly where Castle Castell is?

I've been doing castle trips to Wales for years and keep seeing these signs to Castle Castell, but can I find it? No. You seem to have it well camouflaged!

Thanks awfully Old Beans.
