If you don't manage to find the Outwell one, I do something similar to that with tarps... I've not seen it to buy as a complete package like the Outwell though.

We have a collection of Australian Hootchies ( can't help myself, I like the name!). The beauty of them is they have press studs so that you can attach a whole load together for however many people you have camping, ie use one or two for just us, three for a group of us etc. They also have lots of holes for poles, and tags to attach guylines to, so that you can erect it in a lot of different shapes. There are probably other tarps available with similar features.
Just get some extending poles with spikes on the end to go through the grommets and some guylines to with it.

Shelters we've created from it-
extending out from our tent,
extending out from the car when we had a hatchback,
by itself as a dining shelter,
attaching it to the ground so that it becomes a windbreak and overhead shelter.

We've always been able to get our chairs and table underneath.

Shall go back to lurking and getting ready to camping in the sunshine this weekend :-) It usually rains on us, which is why we have such a collection of Hootchies for wet weather camping...

Blimey 5Kg!!

Like er .. heavy man ...

The Golite 2 Tarp is 10' x 8' and weighs 500g. Even a large woven tarp from Halfords is lighter than that!

You can do it with any of the hoochies, tarps or bashas as mentioned above. It is probably harder to find a pair of light stable poles though, which are high enough to do the job.

It's all about the knots and tension. Get that right and you can do it with virtually anything.

Alternatively I've seen a lot more tent extensions coming in now from Europe. A kind of semi hoop affair at one end and a pole at t'other. I suppose you could use those for the same thing too.

Bob - I'm looking at this for car camping so weight is no issue!

Apparently this product is mega popular and sells out every year so I'll have to make sure I get my hands on one when new stock is sent out next year...

It appears that Outwell are the only people that make something like this?
