As a celeb walker I would be open to offers from Petzl to promote the e+Lite. What a great peice of kit it looks. I'm going to buy 2 as soon as they come out. I should have nicked Jon's when he wasn't looking.

.jpg) Does this mean you have to spend two weeks in the jungle trying to translate geordie or six weeks at fat camp ? Suppose if you,re lucky you could spend some time on a desert island trying to s**g a couple of wannebes , hasbeens or never will bes.

There is a disadvantage to the e+LITE - it's very easy to put it somewhere and simply forget where it is. I finally found it in a hip-belt pocket this morning. And now I've put it down somewhere 'safe', doh...

Drew, the thread title is Gear Blog, not Gear Blag! ;)

I would have thought Crux would give you the keys to there factory Drew <phones crux>.
Ha ha Jon, you had to check that the cheeky scouser hadn't really robbed your torch.
Jonno I don't think my lovely wife would approve of some of your suggestions. But fat camp sounds good. :-)

.jpg) Ah, Ian , the fickle price of celebrity ,thats how they remain famous like Chris Tarrant. Anyhoo , whilst we have been trying to name the most famous person (still alive) with a lakeland connection it seems he as been lurking here all along , Celeb Walker himself. Shall nominate you on the appropriate thread.:)

Thanks jonno, that really nice of you :-)
I won't forget you after my world domination.

 Just got mine!
Theres plenty in Ellis Brigham in Castlfield, Manchester City Centre, plus theres a dark store room in there that the guys will show it working in.
It is one of if not the best bit of kit I have ever seen in my life, just tested it out in the garden and up the road and I will be packing it every single time I go anywhere and will be also using it as my walking head torch for the odd occasional use when caught out.
The case it comes in is brilliant aswell.
You'll be amazed at how bright it is, its just as bright if not brighter than a standard Tikka!
Brilliant!

I just added some duct tape to hold the elastic band onto the case. Just in case I lose it in the dark.

Duncan, have you heard that they are thinking of extending the WHW another mile or so through Fort William so that through hikers don't go straight to the train station and instead visit the town and help out the local economy? When I read it I though of you at 3:00am walking through Fort William thinking "Why is nothing open?" you may have to go back and do another mile, I'm guessing walking down the high street you won't need the Akto tho!? ;-)

Aye, Jamie, a mate texted me when I was on the Way to tell me that it had already been extended. I'd heard about it a few days earlier, so doubted that the 'authorities' could get their act together that quickly. Info from the Scotsman. Fort William did nothing for me. A couple of taxis breaking the speed limit (IMHO) zooming around the roads, and an insipid traffic light indicator that didn't beep, but said that the traffic had been advised to stop. First time I've heard of traffic lights with small print. I'd rather an official path through some of the small villages rather than Fort Bill. Sorry, but the train station was nice, other than that, there was no covered seats that I could see, and I was lucky it wasn't raining. My fault for not arriving during 'civilised' times. At least I didn't reive their cattle.

Fort William rail station does have some amazing toilets though! I remember entering them and thinking wow this place is amazing, there really old and huge.

Very good facilities (I changed into spare clothes), nice and cheery staff in the station. They even congratulated me on completing the WHW. Which was nice.
