We are going with KE adventure in September. I really hope it IS NOT like the tourist path up Ben Nevis, we came DOWN that last year and it was so boring! Cruiser, can you remember any more details? Trek taking 5 days so I am assuming its a lot better than a boring walk up a load of scree!!

Bev, summiting Toubkal takes 2-3 days from Imlil, hopoefully you'll have a day or two of acclimatisation walking from Imlil before you head up to Toubkal. There good walks to the East and the West, a bit more interesting to the West for a day walk in my opinion.

If your heading up from Imlil, the usual two routes are west , over a pass @2800m, (can't remember name), drop down to a Gite for the night @ 2000m, head up to one of the refuges next day for summit bid next morning. After summit it's usually straight back to Imlil.

The other route to the east is basically the same, over the Tizi 'Maziq, stay in Gite, etc.

The other most common route is to drive around to southern side, not always possible as pass can be blocked by snow. Head up passing Lac de Infini, stop for night around there, in Gite or camping, head up to refuge next day, then summit bid, then either come back that way or back to Imlil.

 HTH,

Paul.

er, yes, you'll need a bivvy bag (you'd be better off with a tent) and a below zero rated sleeping bag. The weather in Sept should be clearbut can be well below zero at night and might be raining.

Hasn't the tour organiser advised you?

Ah, OK, I've not heard of people needing a bivvy bag in Neltner, I guess it wouldn't take a lot of room/weigh a lot to take.

I've never stayed in the refuge, only in tents in the Atlas.
