Some garbling gone on here. Which, if the source is Icebreaker, wouldn't surprise me.

Wool, hair, skin, horn and nail are made from the protein keratin.

Carnitine is something completely different...

Sounds to me like it must have been dictated orally, and whoever wrote the words either misheard or didn't understand what they were hearing, and just guessed at the spelling. Happens all the time!
