Hi,I'm trying to start a gallery, but I've got a technical problem. My photo's are above 250kb limit. Does anybody know how to compress them so I can send them? Thanks

Google for irfanview - a piece of freeware which will do just what you want (and more).

I asked the same question 4 days ago (tues), and got many answers, have a look. alan bellis

there should be a facility on the programme you are using to store the photos on your computer- i know nothing about digital cameras/pictures,and even less about computers, but i managed to create an album and place a few pics on it. i use finpix-this has a drop down box under :adjust image quality:-headed :resize image:

listen to sean, download irfanview, free easy to use
|
 |
But ultimately not much good for OM, as the image upload is STILL broken...
|
 |
Jon said the other day they were in the process of trying to fix it again though.

It was supposed to have been fixed on Friday, Sean thought it had been. Things are takin a little longer at the moment with the office move, but I'll mention it first thing Monday.

It's still f***ed. I can't upload my pikkies from my frosty walk today

Have downloaded Ifrnview,, but still can't work out how to compress pics. Can crop them and stuff, anyone explain how to compress them? thanks. HM

Open the image in Irfnview, go to "Image" "Resize,Resample" and you will get the options there to alter it. Or, if you are doing a lot use the "File" "Batch Conversion" options.

.jpg) Huskyman, A really easy to use picture re-sizer is available for free. It is called pixresizer and is stupidly easy to use. Link thing (also available from other download sites, it is free and not dodgy). Maybe the gallery upload has broken again due to the huge number of inversion pics from this weekend????

Not much use if you run a Mac, though.

Hi guys, I'm fully aware of the problems with the gallery. I'm trying very hard to get it fixed. I was out on Kinder yesterday and actually want to upload some pics myself, so I share your frustration. Magicalia HQ has just shifted base across London and I know that there have been some issues as a result of that, I'm not sure whether this is one of them. There are a few other glitches as well, which I'm trying to get resolved. As far as Macs go, yep, Graphic Converter works well and allows you to compress files down to a specified size I think. Or if you're loaded, one of the Adobe Photoshop variants. Or, I think, you can export from iPhoto in a more compressed format, though as I never use it, I'm going on vague memories Jon - site editor
