In the Scarpa there is the Scarpa SL BXX (wide fit) as stated above but i find the Ranger to be a wider boot in the Scarpa Range. Merrell are wide fitting, well there shoes are and i cant find anywhere that stocks their boots... looked around for ages.

Have been looking now for 2 years to replace my Meindl Burmas - the replacement same boot is narrower than their older one - excuse being when asked shop assistant that they'd gone over to a more European standard sizing.

Have now exhausted all possibilities and am not looking forward to a 2nd winter in leaky Burmas!

I find a 38 way too narrow on the bridge of the foot and a 39 has my toes sliding to the end on the down hill 'test' slope.

 A 39 with extra insoles just crushes my foot against the top of the boot!

 My actual foot measurement is a UK 4.5 EE fitting.

 I am glad to see I am not the only person with short fat feet around - but when will the manufactureers realise this?

The Keen's I have seen are all too lightweight for what I need and the Scarpa's too narrow.

I am now on to contacting suppliers direct to see what they can suggest!

 I am told we in the UK have wider feet than our European partners and to go for a British boot - if anyone can suggest a British boot maker who makes a 3-4 season boot that will take a walking rampon please advise!

Amanda I'm not sure where you are but a trip to Altberg at Richmond would be well worth it. My wife has wide feet and bunions from years of dancing and high heels and for years has been buying shoes and boots a size or two too big to accomodate. We booked a fitting and went down and came away with a pair of boots the correct size and width and professionally stretched in the right place for the bunion. She's been wearing them for over two years now and loves them.

I have wide feet, the only boot that fits my feet are Kaylands

Buying shoes/boots is a nightmare if you have unusually shaped feet.  Many times I buy footwear that seems fine in the shop (I always buy after a walk on a hotter day).  When I get home they often don't fit.  If I find cross trainers that fit,  I go back to buy a second pair!  Sometimes you know they don't fit, but other times it takes a while to decide on the fit.  What a pain!

ps I often slice the front off my Superfeet to provide a bit of space in the toe box.
