Came across these pictures of an interesting walk in China.

Apparently its Temple Of Syuankun in the province Of Shansi, whereever that is.

At least you can probably get a decent cup of tea at the end of it!

One chappie on the forum there was asking if they have a laundry available at the end of the route. He has a point! :)

What amused me was the number of padlocks on the chains in one photo, are they that short of scrap metal in China??

;)

Looks pretty hairy but pretty much equivalent to the kind of thing you could find in the Slovak Tatras in the early nineties.

Not been back to that side of the range since but wandered about the Polish side a couple of years back and found they still had the same kind of chains and sheer drops but had re-bolted with shiny new Petzl bolts. Except the ladders - which were still just solid steel affairs banged into cracks.

Still scary as hell in places. They class it as "Via Ferrata" but there are no safety wires...

Don't let that put you off though - gorgeous walking out there.

I put up a page on it:

Yeah was thinking that some pics might be good. At the time I was using a knackered old film camera but I've scanned them in since...

Will post a link if I get a chance to upload them.

Put up some pics of the Tatras.

From looking at these it seems that carrying an EOS 350D has improved my pictures - if only because I take so many - some must come out OK!

This one gives some idea of the "Via Ferrata". It really is as steep as it looks. It wasn't the most scary section - I didn't take pictures when it got worse...

Sorry to waken such an old thread but Google Webmaster Tools keeps nagging me that there are links on this page to pages that no longer exist...

All the above mentioned Tatra information now (and hopefully forever more) lives here:

except your link is coded as... (don't click this!!!)

Perhaps this will work ...

Nice of you to review your old threads like that Red Yeti! Very thoughtful.

Hi John

Maybe something up with the way the links are being rendered since I'm sure the link was working when I posted it (I checked it!) - and now the link you've posted also goes to a bonkers URL!

Oh well - for now, copying and pasting this should work!
