See the article above about the continuing Longstone Edge debacle and please consider taking two minutes to sign the new PM's Office petition opposing quarrying in the Peak District National Park:

I have to be fair and state that I would need to have a study of the specific circumstances of the quarrying before daring to sign any petition. There are too many these days in my view who sign such with little specific knowledge of the issues, which in my view tends to devalue the integrity of the petition.

I have a vested interest in the quarrying of the last two centuries in as much as being a keen caver over 20 years, we would not have half the Welsh caves if they hadn't been uncovered by quarrying.

The Craig Y Ciliau nature reserve (Llangattock escarpment) is an SSSI, and an area of Outstanding natural beauty. Few visitor realize however that the lofty limestone cliffs that look imposingly down are in fact the result of quarrying and are not natural.

Is this quarry going to be a different future prospect?

Yep same here, watched the video, that sort of massive damage is not comparable to the mini quarries of the last 2 centuries!!!

Have signed, as an area I know quite well (despite living over 100 miles from it). The Peak District is a very underrated area of natural beauty.

Just signed.

This makes up for the letter I sent in opposition to this, which was returned to me as it arrived too late (prior to one of the meetings).

There are plenty of alternatives outside of the boundaries of the Peak, and anyone who's been to the Edale and other affected areas knows that this petition needs signing! The photo that Jon put on the site to illustrate it, says it all!
