See the article linked to above, but Rannulph Fiennes has summited on the Eiger after spending around five days on the Nordwand. I think that's pretty extraordinary given his lack of experience, vertigo and frostbite injuries and it's testament both to his determination and to the ability of Kenton Cool and Ian Parnell who were guiding him.

He could try and get through to a real person on one of Sky's customer helplines...

How old is he? Would he have the time?

This is a fantastic achievement for anyone, especially for a non-climber like Fiennes. I have mixed feling about it though. Lets hope it doesn't inspire other non-climbers to be guided up such a dangerous undertaking. We could have a European Everest.I probably err towards the sentiment that if you can't climb it on your own you shouldn't be ask anyone else to climb it for you and second you up it, (which I am asssuming was the case).

You still have to climb it even if your second on the rope. Bloody good effort by a guy with fingers missing on one hand, a triple heart by-pass and at 62 years old. Well done, great to see his sense of adventure isn't fading with age.. brilliant!!
