Hoax Triggers Major Mountain Rescue
Two hoaxers who lied about a friend being lost on a mountain triggered a major rescue operation last night. Mad stuff.

Let off far too lightly. Chuck them in pokie for a week or so - that will put off any other sphincter-brains out there.

When those of us who go out properly prepared get into difficulty and MRT are called out, we are the one's who are implicitly described as irresponsible and thus starts the debate about paying for Mountain Rescue. These 2 jokers should be forced to pay the cost and then hand them over to the Mountain Rescue Team to be used for whatever purpose they see fit. Sorry, it just makes my blood boil!

The bizarre bit is that there's no remotely obvious reason why they did it. One of them was 33 fercrissakes, why would an 33 year old call out mountain rescue on a wild goose chase? Crackers.

Well said that Man....but even so why do that? I suppose it must be the same mentality as those who made hoax calls during the fire stikes...

Maybe they get off on seeing the helicopters. In that case they should come over here. We've had nothing but helos since the first sniff of Gulf War II.

I know when I see a SAR helo I associate it with bad news.
