Well yes, 9 lumen is useless for finding your way - but perfect for quickly finding something in a tent when it's dark without blinding yourself, or for any other situation where you want to maintain as much of your night vision as possible.

Ah...I have pretty poor low level sight definition anyway (and am shortsighted)...so even in a tent 9 lumen is niether use nor ornament...as for preserving night vision - what you aint got you dont miss....LOL

Much as I want Fenix, i can only afford deal extreame.  But the Romisen I bought from them for £10.70 is a pretty good deal (P4 LED) Deal Extreme.  The candleforum is a mine of info for all things bright and shiny, so start there for hints.

If you are after a cracking head light, then the Alpkit Gamma Alpkit is worth a look.  The Bushcraft forum loves them, and for £12.50, its a bargain. Very good service from Alpkit as well.
