Er, I have to admit to just one, the Pennine Way Companion bought when I was 17. Anyone out there care to own up to having the complete set?
Come on, millions have been sold, someone must have them all.

None, zero, zilch. I've never particularly been a Wainwright fan, but a friend of mine has the complete set from the original publihser, "The Westmorland Gazette". Mind if you haven't got them all you best hurry, "Wainwright guides face the axe".

I haven't got any either. Are they any good?

Also in the non owning faction.

Me neither, but I have occasionally borrowed some from the library.

I don't own any, but I know a man who does. He has occasionally allowed me to look at his, if I'm very well behaved. Some of them have have diagrams that help you to identify the other tops that you can see from the top of where you are. I always thought that was vaguely useful and interesting. Otherwise, I can't say I'm that fussed. He (Wainwright, that is) always struck me as rather grumpy and elitist.

I own one of the Pictorial Guides to the Northern Fells which I bought when I was on Holiday last year based in Keswick. I found the diagrams that helped you identify all the surrounding Hills quite useful, as mentioned above, apart from that I don't think I looked at it since. I had intended to buy the others to complete the set but never seemed to get round to it.

If they are to be axed do you think this might bring down the price.
If doing all the lakeland fells is 'doing the Wainwrights' what's the name for collecting all his books?
PG answers only please.
I own at least one of his books...Or it may be by A N Other but called 'Wainwright's Walks'or something like that.
there is at least one spare ' in the above sentence. that makes me 'literally challenged'
Funny you should ask ! see my other thread. I own all the lakes series and a couple of first impressions the only two I lack are the LIMESTONE DALES & THE HOWGILL FELLS the are my fave areas and I have been tracking down copies at a decent price for some time.HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Not one, zero, nix, nada. Grumpy old grouch. (Wainwright or me? - you decide!)
I'll second that one! (You decide! ;-) )
None. I buy a map. To be honest, I was put off them by his attitude to rock climbing.
sad, sad , sad, these books are works of art from a lost era personally I was put off rock cimbing by the attitude of climbers !enough said.

I'm with Pete on this one, I own all seven plus one that contains various humorous quotes. They are indeed 'works of art'.
I buy maps too Alistair.
