I am getting rather fed up with the hunt for things that fit. I am not extremely skinny, just 28 waist, 35 chest, and 35 seat.
Trousers are the worst. If it is useful walking stuff, or rainwear, everything is stupidly big. It's very strange, because I wear a lot of Haglofs stuff. The jackets are ok, but the trouser sizing is nowhere near!
I suppose the one advantage you have is the glut of smaller sizes in sales like the one we are having in our Betws store at the moment. Your other option is "tailor made" outdoor clothing. Extreme Outdoor Clothing will make you made to measure clothing, and I think Paramo will adapt their existing garments if you contact them direct. Aiguille Alpine will also do similar things with their equipment.
Hi michael, i'm a man of roughly the same size as you and i too find it frustratingly difficult to find outdoor clothing that fits but one thing that i have found is that some outdoor companies do make mens size xs clothing even if it isn't immediately obvious from their websites. Some examples are sprayway, lowe alpine, patagonia and mammut and although they do not have size xs in all their clothing it's worth keeping your eye out on sites that sell a range of outdoor brands as they can be quite cheap due to the lack of demand and summer sales etc.All other advice is much appreciated
Hi Keithy boy here of "extreme outdoor clothing" still alive and still making made to measure outdoor clothing using the brilliant K2 Karisma fleece [also known as ultrafleece]! I still offer the made to measure service and I have enough fleece to manufacture garments for the next 2-3 winter seasons [when its gone its gone]!!!
I am available to chat to by phone weekday eves after 6pm on 01543258872 or check out the extreme web site and order the brochure/size chart also check out the gear reviews for my kit on this web site!
Tell me about it. I'm similar measurements to Michael, which basically means when it comes to jackets I need XS sizes.
Let's look at Berghaus, one of the few manufacturers who actually do an XS size. From them, I have a choice of: - RG1 - Mera Peak
Whoop-de-doo.
It's made even worse as, for some reason, a "small" in outdoors clothing equates to a "medium" in any other clothing. Surely active people should be keeping in shape, so why on earth are all the clothes designed for the clinically obese?
I can make gear to the size you want just fill in ALL the size details on the order form also you can send me a drawing with measurements of a jacket or trousers that fit you well and I will make the items to match!! Please note it takes about 4 weeks to make gear as I am a "one man band" operation and my sewing machinists are busy at this time of year.
28" waist was a nightmare, ive put on weight over last 10yrs and now im in 30" - great trousers fit! and small coats too - ive always thought ME, golite, pHD fit well, and montane amongst others too big.
so eat & drink plenty, and enjoy every pound you put on, you know it makes sense!
