Just reading through the review of the opening of the new "flagship" store, and I must have visited a different shop.

1. I did not get a 20% voucher for a smoothie, and

2. Goody bags? Where????

Other than that, I bought a pair of Cuesta shoes and did get a free hard case (apparently worth £17).

Other than that, the displays are too crowded (no room for the pushchair to get through) and I had to wait for 20 minutes to be attended to.

Just wandered in there today. Was met by an american shop assistant who was very eager to tell me how edgy and urban, yet still made of technical material, the gear was. Honest, its still waterproof!

 I didn't stay.

I popped in on Sunday.  It was much smaller than I imagined, and it made me realise how few toys* Berghaus actually produce.  They had Brasher socks and poles, which seemed a bit weird.  The staff were roaming around like daleks asking if I was OK and needed help, then wandering off before I could even answer.  It was also tricky to find things.  All the base layer hangars seemed to have womens' sizes on them, no matter where in the shop I looked for them.  Being a bloke, I'm not sure whether I'm a 16 or an 18 or what...

Anyway, I was thoroughly underwhelmed, and instead went to Blacks to buy an inflatable pillow.

*toy: Any outdoor gear that isn't clothing.

Brianetta,

Re the Brasher poles and socks,  the North Face store in Covent Garden (run by Ellis Brigham) has petzl headtorches adnd MSR stoves etc.. Presumably they want to be able to sell you whatever you're after so get in other manufacturers to fill the gaps in their range.

John: Were that the case, I'd have loved to have seen the tents and stoves and sleepy bags and other toys.  (-:  Fact is, toys were limited to insulated mugs, rebranded Nalgene flasks, packs and some other less interesting bits and bobs like MP3 cases.

He has certainly missed the point about the hangers and sizes displayed on them.

I went back this weekend to change my shoes for a pair (the original pair didn't match) and this time I was much more impressed with the layout.

The original chap who I had spoken to when I bought the shoes, and pointed out the tightness of the diplays for pushchair users, remebered me and told me that my feedback had been valuable. They had taken out 4 displays, and this had opened up the shop immensely.

Credit where it's due - customer service was excellent!

Oh, I nearly forgot - my wife and I were given 20% discount vouchers for smoothies too.

there is no way that the men's tops are on ladies hangers. there are sections on the shopfloor for men's with all men's jackets, soft shells, trousers, fleeces and base layers displayed with S M L XL XXL size cubs. And the same with the ladie's section

not so hard to find

Brianetta must have been looking in the wrong area, when men's and women's base layers could be the same colour sometimes the only way to know if they are men's or ladie's is to look for the size on the hanger so if its 8 10 12 14 16 or 18 that means that you are looking at ladie's tops Brianetta was in the wrong area in the shop

he also said that the staff were keep asking him if he was ok maybe becouse he was keep looking at ladie's tops!

Well, unless they have ladies' base layers in three distinct parts of the shop, I don't know.  I wasn't actually looking for clothes, but toys, and the company as a whole sadly lacks anything decent to play with.

I went into the store first time today and was a little dissapointed as it was a bit like a "fashion shop" and all the clothing / equipment was at RRP Dont know what it was that i expected but it wasnt this. The staff however were very friendly ( bit like a normal clothes shop )  however of all the Berghaus kit I have ever bought ( fleeces, hat ,trousers, tech T shirts I have always bought them for less than RRP I also find that the Metro centre snow & rock is the same i.e. RRP  From a personal point of view if i want some new gear i can have trip to Keswick or surf the web

I suppose u could look at gear in shop then buy on internet ?
