Interesting new site from the Ordnance Survey, but curiously their terms and conditions forbid hypertext linking to any page on their site. Not sure what all that's about, but there is a link to it in the article above
Oooh, update. Apparently the terms and conditions are likely to be revised shortly. The intention isn't to prevent people from linking to the Explore site, but rather to stop people say, adding their own pub or guest house to a route as a point of interest and linking to their own web site, so there you go, not quite as mad as it appears... You can upload a route of your own and happily link to it, say, on the forum or on a blog without fear of being dragged through the courts.
The arrogance of these bstrds is amazing. Maybe they are following the example of their equally arrogant siblings the British Hydrographic Office who have had a similar condition in their T&Cs for ages.
A while ago I constructed a special webpage with a link to one of their pages, then sent an email with the URL and said "I'll link to any webpage I blddy well like mister, and here's one for a start, so fk off".

It gets even better then, they could actually make money directly from our work.

Contravening that rule would merely constitute a form of spam, all they could do is remove the submission.
OK, on careful re-reading of the terms and conditions, the non-linking thing, I think, is only an example of what would consitute a breach of terms and conditions if you were to use the site for non-personal and non-commercial use.
In other words, you can upload and link to your own routes or anyone else's on your own site, or blog, but we couldn't - for example - upload routes to the OS Explore site then link to them as we're a commercial site.
If only lawyers would speak something like comprehensible English...
I'll have a look later on but initially, I couldn't see a way of printing a route, maybe this is not to be allowed I would have thought as it would do away with other mapping software at this scale.
Oh, and preventing people from linking to their site is a bit bonkers; as the bloke from MHW said when I pointed out a complete re-jigging of their page addresses:
"I do appreciate you posting a link our way (seriously, it's awesome and it helps us tremendously)"
