Doctors on Everest, all in the name of medical research. I read about this in my UCL alumni magazine (!!), it looks very interesting.

Fascinated my the medical science stuff, found the over-dramatic editing and commentary rather tiring though. I used to watch these kinds of programmes. Now I watch them and 'gear-spot' which is a bit worrying.

I thought it was a great program as was the program that followed it about the homeless alcholic suffering from MS called Stuart, A Life Backwards.
Is it repeated does anyone know... I missed it due to a SARDA callout near Oldham
Judith, part ii is next sunday 8 o'clock if that is any help!
I recorded it so could post a DVD if that helps. Email me if you like. (I'm assuming the recording worked - haven't watched it yet myself)

Didn't the sight of yer man getting a tube shoved up his nose and down into his gut make anyone else feel a bit funny?
Aye. I never swallow like that.
sorry to say i spent the whole programme "tent and gear spotting!"
I can understand it in you, Drew, but I'm normal, I shouldn't be doing that!!!
"I'm Normal" says the woman who marches around Scotland head butting poor innocent boulders !!!!!!

Another request for info if it is being repeated, please (I went to Barcelona for some rest and relaxation!)

I'm not sure if this is part one or two (which is on this Sunday). ---- Sign Zone:Horizon <!-- END titleInfo --> Tuesday 02 October 3:05am - 4:05am BBC1 Everest: Doctors in the Death Zone This two-part special documentary follows an extraordinary team of climbing doctors on an expedition like no other to make scientific history and experience the ultimate in mountaineering. Working in tented laboratories pitched beside ice falls in minus 25 degree temperatures, these doctors are risking their lives in an attempt to rewrite our understanding of the human body and revolutionise the treatment of patients in intensive care. <!-- END review --> VIDEO Plus+: 7547444

Looks like it's a repeat of the first epsiode. On tvguide.co.uk it says: "First in a two-part Horizon documentary special following a group of climbing doctors on a scientific expedition to Mount Everest. From tented laboratories pitched in minus 25C temperatures, the results of their experiments could lead to a greater understanding of the human body and revolutionise the treatment of patients in intensive care"

A woman at work was one of the guinea pigs who were tested by the medics. there were about twenty of them with various levels of walking and climbing experience; for most of them this was a completely new challenge. The abiding memory, reportedly of most of the guinea pigs was the toilets up and down the route. Unforgettable apparently.
