PC - Yeah I think you're right. Will be a shame to see the Extreme go for sale so may keep it for dry winter days. Trying to get my hands on a Montane Flux to replace the too small Torres (found the large too baggy and too short - depends on the length.

You can still edit after another person posts if you do it with a short time period. If you email the editor on jon AT outdoorsmagic.com (replace AT with "@") he'll edit it out for you. And typing your email addy that way may fool the spambots

thanks Parky but the edit was only on my last message.........any other ideas?

You'll like the Trekker hoodie, I've been using one with an Explorer top under it and a Fuera wind smock or Montane Lightspeed. As the trekker zips completely open it can be used on hotter days, it's reversible and has pocket access both sides. Pity about the Torres as I think it's one of Paramo's better garments and I use mine a lot.

Heck,Extreme and an Aspira..couldnt the Aspira be a waterproof Extreme ?? Thats my take on it anyway.I have an Extreme smock, but the Aspira has taken its place for the hills...Extreme now used mainly for water based stuff.

Re: Applying TX-Direct to the Montane Extreme Smock mentioned earlier... I talked to Montane today and they don't recommend the use of wash-in... I checked the Buffalo website and they say the same Bit cheesed off as the Montane care label says to use TX-Direct but with no mention that only the spray-on version is kosher. Nothing on their website either. What a pain.
Odd that. I'd noticed that the label on my Montane Toasty jacket from a couple of years ago recommends spray-on but the newer stuff (Prism & Flux) suggest wash-in. All Pertex outer + synthetic insulation so why the difference? Very odd, or maybe just a cock-up on the labelling front.
Ah, should have checked first. You're right. The older one specifies spray-on but the more recent labels just say TX Direct without specifying the type.
Thanks for the update Dave, as a consequence I've emailed Montane as below: Thanks again for the reply. Just checked the label of the smock and it only says "Use TX-Direct" it doesn't specify wash-in or spray-on, nor does the website say anything that I can find. It's a bit irritating really. Perhaps the labels should be changed, as apparently they did use to specify spray-on. It may be that whoever did the labels texts wasn't aware that the "Direct" name applies to both products - it can be confusing. Hope this helps. Doubt I'll get a replacement though...

good job i don't get confused by reading labels..... i did a wash-in with my toasty jacket. doesn't seem to have done it any harm..in fact i'm wearing it in my picture---->

Giving up on the Aspira Jacket - the fit just isn't doing it for me. The back is too short, as are the arms, body is like a sack. £150 delivered if anyone is interested. I'm going to get a cioch glamaig as it has betters colours as well.
