Right, reckon we're due for an OUTDOORSmagic meet-up in June. I was thinking of the Lakes, but alternatively we've never had a meet-up in the Dales so somewhere like Malham or Kettlewell might be an option.

What do people think? Probably camping as it'll be more flexible.

I just checked my diary and was quite bemused when I saw June 3rd wasa Tuesday....

Then I realised you meant June 2003. I blame it aon all the knocks to the head I got as a kid.

Anyway, Junes more or less free for me, so I'm interested.

Kettlewell has lots to do in the area and some great pubs :)

But I also love the Lakes; so don't ask me, I'm torn....

Could I request please NOT the w/e of 14 June? A few of us are taking part in the WaterAid Munro Challenge all that weekend.
Thanks.

I'm up for that. Either the dales or the lakes. Can't do 21/22 though.

Well, I thought it was about time I made a contribution instead of just sitting back and reading it all the time.

Have your feet recovered from last weekend yet?

I'd like to come along too, in which case could someone please recommend a lightweight one-person tent, with enough room to sit-up in. I have a two-person dome tent but it's getting on for 10 years old now and tis a tad too heavy.

Grrrr... You've all gone off topic :-(

Anyway, best place for the tent question is in the gear section.

How about the Lakes on the 7-8 June then? Not sure where, might be nice to sneak off somewhere quiet like the Duddon Valley, or maybe up to Wasdale to see Guy?

7th/8th is good for me, would prefer somewhere a bit quicker to get to than Wasdale if poss, but I know its only us southeners that are inconvenienced by this, so I'll go with the flow.

Duddon Valley sounds nice, good climbing there, too. Would prefer this over Wasdale as we are in Wassi the following weekend but refusing to visit Guy may be considered rude so I will also go wid de flow....

Well, I mentioned Duddon because it's easier than Wasdale, but further from the hell hole tourist traps on the eastern side of the area. Decent cragging at Wallabarrow (or whatever it's called), easy access to the Old Man and Dow if it's a nice day etc.

Or you can head the other direction towards less frequented parts. Plus the pub is half decent and an easy walk from a pleasant camp site.

Any other suggestions welcomed. Maybe North Lakes. Alex?

Si - Duddon Valley is heaps easier to get to than Wasdale - just drive up from Broughton - it's called Dunnerdale in the map.

Yeah absolutely, the idea is that we pick a venue and a date and anyone who uses the site is invited to roll up - we've had the first one the year before last in North Wales and it's a a really nice way of putting faces to names, getting out and doing some walking or climbing or whatever you fancy, then heading off to the pub in the evening.

Might look at a barbecue for this one mind, though that'll guarantee rain, no question.

Oh, you don't have to wander round the hills as part of some huge column of OM members btw, it's all very informal and people can do their own thing or whatever you like.

Sorry, should have explained it properly to start off with. I'll go back and do it now.

Be great to see you Julian, and any other people I haven't met yet - everyone else I've met through OM has been really nice. We were all strangers once.
Even the editor, no one's stranger than him....(only joking, don't ban me LOL)
