It's so when you fall A over T on the glacier, you can be located by your feet sticking out.

For some reason most of the brands doing a boot of this nature seem to have gone for the same shock & awe tactics...

Bought a pair of these prior to going out to the alps. Superb boots - comfy and grippy - superb on aiguille rouge stuff. Can't fault them, especially at the price. Got them from Outdoorworld - brilliant service and keen price from them. Get over the colour scheme - you'll get used to it in no time
