I didn't realise that non-northern hills would be exempt from the threat of fire. So why, may I ask, were the Malvern Hills on fire yesterday? They certainly aren't northern!
That may sound quite offendsive/offended, but I'm merely suggesting that the weather is affecting te entire country, and not just the north.
The Malvern Hills were probably set on fire by some bored school kids, on their Easter hols, but the fact that a fairly large area was burned out shows how dry the entire country has been.

 Fair point.

But on Saturday the hill on the east side of the A683 near Barbondale (top end of Dales) was alight and smouldering on Sunday. Jon didn't mention this one...should I be offended too? ;0)
Anyway Jon also mentioned The Peak...- anyone who claims that Derbyshire (Midlands) is in the North is in for a kicking. Metaphorical of course....
God, I'm turning into Pete Morley!!!! Eeeeeeeeeek
That's a point. Where is Pete Morley?
There was a thick smokey fog over my home town of Buxton (which is Northern Jeannie, not the midlands) on Sunday evening as a result of some moorland fires around Axe Edge I think.
Anything south of Sheffield is Midlands ;0P The North goes all the way up to the Scottish Borders....give the wee Midlanders some extra land I say.
Moors above stalybridge and motram are burning.
Ouch. Is Manchester in the north then?
It's not that the fire doesn't affect the south, it's just that no one cares.
Let is burn I say :)
I know, I'll get my coat.......
You're right Guy, its just that we don't have to use buckets of water from the village well to put it out, we've got this thing called "mains water supply". Don't think its quite made it to your neck of the woods yet. ;-)

 ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh...here we go...
There's nothing to burn down south - it's all concrete.
Some of my best friends are southerners, come to think of it, I'm a southerner myself, but southerners have as much access to moorland fires as anyone else. I don't see why we should make a particular effort to allow them to have fires too.
The fires in the South are probably much better educated and worth more per square mile than our shabby little bonfires up here in the north :)
bite go on , someone bite .......!
Quite right too. And they'll make huge headlines as well. A small bonfire in, say, Streatham would be worth more column inches than the whole of Bleaklow going up in smoke. And rightly so.
There where men up on Bleaklow last saturday trying to achieve just that.
I aint biting, but I will say this.
You all smell really bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
I'll get my coat.

 Simon
Didn't I read somewhere that London 'mains water' has, on average, passed though seven previous drinkers? Doesn't that make it watered down urine? mmmm nice!
 I read 15 bladders actually!
Similar to London Beer then...load of ****
Coat's on already
