Just a question for all you akto owners out there of which end do you pitch into the wind , am i right in thinking its the end with the shortest slope as more guys would support the tent and is this the head end sounds stupid but i am a new owner and the instructions aren't that clear will pitch tomorrow as i want to use it this weekend thanks in advance for your help.

You pitch it with the end that hasnt got the door to windward.

You sleep with your head at the other end....

I will find a picture and come back hang on a mo...

Yep head at the door end - so you can reach the zips and not have to bother getting out of bed.

Enjoy your Akto Sean - I Love mine to bits - it is the most fantastic tent design ever in the history of the world. In fact I dont think anyone could ever beat the AKto. It is strong yet light - it compresses down to nothing with 4 season capability and they generally look best in green. There is soooooo much room too the vestibule or bell end is fantastic I manage to go away and take the dog and it really is comfortable. You can sit up inside too. The dog loves it and you will find that there is loads of space at the foot and head end. I have had mine out in some really strong blows and really think it is the dogs bollox I really really like the Kerlon 1200 I think it is fantastic - good venting at either end (remember to use it) and if necesssary in really big strong blows you can double pole as well if you wanted to. However I have had mine out in 50 mph blows and it wasnt necessary.

Did I mention that I like the Akto

Sean - The Akto is symmetrical - I dont understand what you mean by shortest slope though??? The thing pitches length ways into the wind - but its structure is symmetrical.

I am sure you will get the hang of it though.

.

Diddy it is nothing like you laserlight or comp??? that you purchased today - sorry mate the door orientation is the other way around on the TN. Dont go breaking it and blaming me

I think I have  had a similar  conversation with FB recently BUT but  if the ground is sloping down  from left to right in the above picture, since it is best to sleep with your head uphill,  you have  to make a choice:- either sleep with your head at the non door end  or turn the tent through 180 degrees.   I think the former is better because  with the door at the 'leeward end' you get better shelter for cookinng in the porch.
