I don't have a Xenon, but I have a SS Xodus and it's an excellent tent.

I had a Black's Storm Shield which lasted several years but then kind of fell apart at the seams. You get what you pay for.

Now have a Vango Equiniox which is vastly better.

Check out http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk
They have the excellent Vango Storm for just £119.
Also look at tents from Wynnster on http://www.wildday.co.uk.

Personally I would advise against Storm Shield and go for Wynnster or if you can afford it Vango.

I would be tempted to get a second hand tent with the money you want to spend. There are lots of these type forums on the web (here, ukclimbing etc.) so why not post asking if anyone has a quality tent that they don’t need and would sell you?
As with all things in this life, you do indeed get what you pay for and a second hand used quality tent will be better in both pack size, weight and performance.

I think this is an excellent idea. My first backpacking tent was second hand and I could never have afforded it full price. It was a really good tent and lasted 10 years even though it was second hand when I got it. It was being advertised on a card in an outdoor shop - so that's another place to look.

Is it possible to get a replacement silver pole for a Stormshield Xenon tent?, and if so, from where?

Replacement poles are available from most outdoor shops, Millets & Blacks included.

Or you can get one made up to suit from Hampton Works.  Provided you have the original pole to measure, that is...
