... to Jon's list of viable alternatives...

the humble Malt Loaf. Many available brands (Soreen, Sunmalt, Tesco's Organic)... all great carbo fuel with about 3% fat.

Beware of the consequences to your bowels, however...

These NAKD bars are good too - uncooked fruit and grains but no added sugar - but real men eat Stoats Oat Bars. You are what you eat.

nakd "unsweetened raisins naturally flavoured with fruit extracts to taste like other fruit" - erm. why?

what sort of texture do they have if they're uncooked?

I've only tried the fruit bars, as opposed to the flavoured raisins. The bars are nice; chewy, moist, fruity.  Got a few from Cotswold who happened to be selling them cheap.

One of the few zomby threads worth resurrecting.

How available is fig roll now?  And how about 'apple roll', an acceptable alternative?

Frum - I'll give you a sort of recipe - but I make it up from whatever is on hand

Oats - porridge and oatmeal, linseed sunflowerseeds, sometimes pumpkin or hemp if it's about, sultanas (or raisins) sometimes apple or other fruit (dried apricot/prunes/dates ect - chopped) ginger powder - to taste

Golden syrup + melted oliveoil marge type stuff

mix in the dried and bake on gas 5 for about 20mins
