A Montbell UL 90 is over 100g lighter than the shorter version... And some of the somewhat weird Insul Mats are pretty light too.... ..and Torsolites.... Am I being a tad retentive ?

World's lightest..... of it's specific dimensions, perhaps? My Thermarest seat is only 60g - but I'd have to huddle up pretty damn tight to sleep on it!

So basically OM will now publish any marketing bollocks by prefixing with "claims are the". I assume there will be equal publicity for my emergency shelter which I claim to be the lightest available despite it consisting of a large heap of breeze blocks.

'Breeze blocks'? Now they sound light....

breeze blox? sounds like what Bluff spouts most nights.....

fill em with helium and they get even lighter !!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it is a nicely made mat, and a nicer colour than the Prolite 3, but I have my doubts on the claims. Mine weighs 389g (so the manufacturers weights are correct), while my Prolite 3 weighs 381g. However, the Multimat is a fraction longer. Similarly, the rated TOG value of 4.02 comes out as a R value of 2.28, which is remarkably similar to the R 2.3 of the Prolite 3 (not very surprising, as the two mats are the same thickness). So probably not a 4 season mat.

Just checked my thermarest out. Thought I got a full length prolite 4, unfortunately its a prolite 3. Goods news is I've just saved some more weight, just doesn't feel like it! Just got an outwell basic camp mat, shld be 130g mine is lighter. Might get another for winter camping, 2 layers are lighter than my prolite 3. Rolled up as one and strapped to the outside, jobs a good'un. Whats wrong with used news papers And cardboard boxes for a tent.

The Pacific outdoors Uber light self inflating mat (3/4 lenght) is 255g, easily the lightest 3 season mat on the market.

 |
Well just bearly than, don't forget the Neo Air small at 260 gramms and a R value of 2.5. Don't know what dat Pacifc Outdoors does but I guess the insulation is not as good considering the low weight and the value of R = 2.3 for self inflatables a bit (320 gr.) heavier....
