 they could have been anywhere!!

How meaneth though, exactly? Not suggesting it was all filmed in a studio too, like the Apollo moon landing are you?

I note today on Radio four, that the team of torch 'security officials' till now said to have been Chinese Beijing Police officers, are now revealed to be Chinese People's Army paramilitaries chaps !

yesterday, there was by some accounts heavy snow, and chinese had to make emergency camps.... dont you think the torch holder looked rather fresh?? Theres always publicity stunts going on, and given the peak is off limits....who knows....they shouldve let foreign journalists in

my thoughts exactly, their all stood around breathing quite happily, only one of them on oxygen. umm. Do you think its a lie? I wouldn't put it past them, Ive ordered sweet and sour pork before now and it definitely wasn't....
So have I! Wasn't sweet or sour, and most decidedly didn't taste like pure pork either! So you reckon all this to be a Chinese Porky pie then do you? You will be telling me next that you don't believe the table tennis match to be now played between the Chinese and Japanese aged leaders, is not a big publicity fix too now! They all have spin doctors too y'know! They all learned a heck of a lot from Tony Blair!

Yeah we've all learned alot from Tony Blair..................
And not much of it terribly good or noble either!
Still, I did think it was quite funny the revelation of his massage therapy in office! On hearing that he was embarassed by it all, coming out as public knowledge that is!
 Come in Capricorn One........
Yeah! I for one want to see the guy eat that Western Diamondback rattlesnake raw again!

Apparently, sarcasm is the best way to get round the censors...(see post by 'congratulations').

Did that risque posting of yours get through ok then, Montgomery? You told us you had tried one out there, and were waiting to see if they would let it through, the other day.

My entry reads: Well done on reaching the summit! The free spirit of the Chinese people and their friends in Tibet combined to set an example of to the world, and we can now look forward to the coming of the olympic games.

James, as far as I can see the bold didn't come over in the text. A lot of the entries seem to have western names. The hearty praise appears to come from tremedously patriotic people who are prollific in their praise. Lots of common spelling mistakes - must be the schooling system.

Just so you know, the news I heard said that they lit it at the top!! Does that mean it wasn't from the flame ignited by the light of the sun on Mount Olympus? By my books that means it isn't the Olympic torch!! So the news should have said that the Chinese had put a replica Olympic torch on Everest. They could have gone lightweight with one of those small jet type lighters they sell in outdoor shops. Just as much right calling it the Olympic torch. Still, at least they got the lead paint on the torch past the environmental brigade.
I read somewhere that they have an 'olympic flame' held in some special protective case and they use this to light the olympic 'torches' - same in the torch relays such as London and Paris. So evn if a torch is extinguished the 'olympic flame' hasn't gone out. I also seem to remember that they's developed some special case to take the 'flame' up Everest, so it's feasible they could then light a 'torch' from it on the summit. Hmmm, not that I really care all that much......

That would have given the game away.
I submitted it with the words above each other: Well done on reaching the summit! The free spirit of the Chinese people and their friends in Tibet combined to set an example of to the world, and we can now look forward to the coming of the olympic games. Sadly it didn't come across that way when published. Still, the sentiment was there. I had a spelling mistake as well
