description

Lightweight two-person tent featuring inner with mesh walls, bathtub design floor with PU and silicone coating, taped seams, D-shaped door, single hub/pole systems with DAC aluminiuim hub, above door mesh pocket, tent body clips to pole frame, 30D Nylon ripstop fly with PU and silicone coating

  • DAC Featherlite NSL pole system – featuring eco-friendly anodizing. DAC poles are super light and strong with press fit connectors, and lightweight hubs.
  • All DAC poles made from TH72M aluminum: the latest technology in lightweight tent poles featuring improved durability.
  • Fly is lightweight silicone treated nylon rip-stop with a waterproof polyurethane coating
  • Floor is lightweight silicone treated nylon rip-stop with a 1200mm waterproof polyurethane coating
  • Tent body is lightweight nylon and polyester mesh. Mesh body offers excellent ventilation.
  • Single hub/pole system makes set up easy
  • Plastic clips attach the tent body to the pole frame for quick and easy set-up. Ridge pole runs through fabric loops along the ridge line of the tent body.
  • D shaped door with mesh pocket above
  • Storm flap over vestibule zipper
  • Reflective guyline and reflective webbing on tent corners for nighttime visibility
  • All seams are taped
  • Superlight, X-peg stakes included
  • Gear loft loops included: Big Agnes gear loft sold separately
  • PVC-free and solvent-free seam tape

Strengths. The main strength to this tent is the weight, at only 1.5 kg, it is perfect for one person to carry on there own to live in comfort or if you split it between two people you don’t even know that your carrying it. Quick and easy to put up, the one pole with hubs makes erection very efficient, and I was also very pleased with how light inside the tent was, makes sitting out any rain or bad weather a bit more bearable as you have a natural light and bright area to read or prepare kit.

Weaknesses. I guess if I was being picky the main weakness to this tent is its strength, the low weight means very thin materials, which I guess could wear out faster than thicker heavier ones, and some people would not like the all mesh inner, could be a bit cold in very cold weather, but it is a 3 season tent and not designed for full on winter conditions.

Overall. A brilliant tent, that is quick and easy to put up and take down, very light, 1.5kg. and best of all NO condensation!

Thanks for the review, Chris...

it certainly did interest me. Have you uploaded it to the review pages for posterity?

My trusty 90's Quasar is too heavy and often too warm for my needs these days and I don't think I'd persuade the other half to tarp with me as she's not fond of sharing her living space with the bugs. This kind of mesh-inner lightweight tent could be great for us.

nice one for the review chris , ive got an sl1 , bought as a step up from my bivvy , very happy with it .

im quite a big lad at around 6 1 and have room for me and my 100 l pack in there . ive had a lot of condensation on the inside of the outer fly but never any in the inner tent

my only gripe would be the thinness of the ground sheet , but ya gotta have a comprimise for that kind of wieght

little tip , dont bother with the optional ground sheet , there as thin as the one on the tent . if you wont to make a fast fly setup use dyneema cord to hold the poles

ive been contemplating the copperspur sl2 for my extended trip to nz later this year , any chance of a review on that?

cheers again

carl

Chris

go here for the SL1 review:

http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/review/reviewProductReviews/mps/rpn/25046/prod/Big-Agnes-Seedhouse-SL1/rcn/12/rgn/11/v/3/sp/

Or even better use the suggest new product feature to add the SL2 (the eVent alternative is also reviewed on this site)

http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/review/addproduct.asp?brandname=Big%20Agnes&ubn=7577&sp=&v=3&RGN=11&RCN=91

And you should be able to cut & paste most of what you put in above. Unfortunately, the percentages are a bit too precise for the 1-5 scale, but if you think you have assessed them 'perfectly' then why not leave them in the text.
