Starting out?

Just looking for a 2 man tent that doesn't break the bank for short walking/cycling breaks.

Been recommended the Vango Alpha 200 or the Vango Sigma 200 - are these really suitable & is the Sigma worth the extra £15?

Are they suitable?  Well, depends what you're looking for...

Is the Fiesta Popular Plus a suitable car for long motorway drives?  Depends on your definition of "suitable", you can do it, but there are (more expensive) options which will do the job better.

As a point of comparison, friends of mine did a week's cycle tour around the Outer Hebs  with a cheap Eurohike dome, not a million miles from the cheap Vangos, and they didn't suffer for their choice.  They've bought a nicer tent since, but because it's nicer, not because the cheap one failed them.

You wouldn't expect to survive a really major blow, or simply last as long as many (more expensive) alternatives, but it should be okayfor getting your feet in the water.

I'd take the Alpha over the Sigma, might noot be so big but is consderably lighter.

I've been using a seriously cheap/small/old tent for the odd night or two here & there but after spending last weekend in it in the Peaks (in pretty unpleasant conditions) I've decided to get something a little better. Problem is I don't use it often enough to justify any major expense.

Though of course if you have something nice then you're more inclined to use it...

I've found Coleman to be excellent quality for reasonable UK weather conditions (ie not howling storms).
