Terrocs and Ankles

Have been wearing some innov8 terrocs and find the right one rubs on my ankle somewhat...only tends to happen on really rough ground. Not especially painful - managed to do Bowland Challenge (26 miles) in them and no soreness the next day but I would like to try and get this sorted if possible.

I've read a few people experience this...is it something that goes away once the shoe breaks in more (although they have done 50 miles now) or can it be sorted out another way? I think if I could raise my foot in the shoe a little via an insole or similar then that might help ...any other ideas?

I had exactly the same issue when I got mine James. I cured it with a basic volume adjuster (about £5 a pair, cut to fit) placed under the insole. This raises my whole foot such that the ankle is now clear of the cuff in all circumstances. Fortunately the Terrocs have sufficient volume that (for me) there was room to do this, and the repositioning of my foot hasn't created any other problems such as on the heel.

Although I only got the problem on my right ankle I put the volume adjusters in both shoes - I decided that symmetry was probably better than walking around with one foot raised a couple of mm higher than the other all the time (but I'm guessing on that!).

The Terrocs have since been comfortable for a couple of years now. Interestingly when I also bought Roclite 315s I've not experienced the same issue at all.

I had this problem. Roclites are OK. A pair of discarded terrocs were OK when I cut the offending bit of upper away. I tried an insole it helped a little but was not a total solution

Ta, good to hear someone else has sorted it. I have some insoles kicking around so will try this and see how we get on.

 Cheers

I tried some Terrocs when they came out and had the same problem with my right ankle - it's really a consequence of the high lacing system at the front and can be quite painful. I asked Inov-8 about it, they said it could be a problem for some people, and suggested trying different lacing patterns, including leaving the top lace-hole unused, or using footbeds. Their own Inov-8 footbeds are cheap. Neither strategy really fixed it.

had 4 or 5 pairs terrocs----couple of times this has happened with a new pair----a thick pair of socks raised my foot enough for comfort---------they then softened with use
