hi skint,

bit off subject but i really dont rate these guys much.

i am not saying it is easy, but they are going round the world with 2-3 jeeps following them and central headquarters at london etc etc...

come on, Ted Simon in the 70s did all by himself..

sorry for hijacking the agenda!

will a jeep and headquarters in london keep you warm in a tent?

probably.. they could have very easily order for something to be deliver/dropped by plane next to their tent..

in two minds about that prog. myself AK  obvious the guys have back up aplenty but they appear to be getting stuck in ....there is a bit of 'spoilt rich kids roughing it for the first time' kind of thing in the background tho' I agree...

so back to the SNUGPAK SLEEKA ELITE jacket!  want something to keep me warm this winter irrespective of looks ....oops ...sounds like my ex...

Have a look in TKMAXX skint bint. A lot of Keela jackets can often be found at cheap prices.

Edited to say i need specs!

Yep - I have. Very warm, great for winter, great for wet and nasty scottish stuff (helped me no end in 1 particular epic in Cairngorms 1 night...). I have recently 'downgraded' to a Montane light jacket (probably the Prism, I forget the name). The sleeka is quite a beast to pack and carry and I often find myself taking a few layers hence thought just the Prism would do. Sleeka - great for winter, hanging around, bothy trips,

If you want a Sleeka in XL then I may know a man....

I got the reversible Sleeka but it is a very warm jacket, and far too warm for me if I'm moving around in it at all much.I likely would not have bought this item in 2006, if not for the fact it was at a good offer price online at that time though. I just use it as a winter jacket generally now.

snugpak sleeka jacket and troos kept my ass warm in a baltic kosovo several years back....good jackets, small pack size, warm when wet, tough !!!

Don't know if the sunugpak ones have changed yet but if going for trousers get the ones with full length side zips. I have accumulated a couple of pairs of super warm trousers and the ones that are great are those you can put on without removing boots or even straight underneath overtrousers.

Fantastic kit if you are standing around, or out for the night in winter but I agree with Trevor not the sort of thing you can use in UK when walking in anything but the worst weather.

why not check out the very cheap Rab Generator Jacket at cotswolds at the moment...mines in the post!!
