Do you know if any of the profit from the retail sales (as opposed to selling to MRT's), goes towards the MRTs? wouldn't have been a bad idea eh??

Webtogs are stocking it at: http://www.webtogs.co.uk/Mountain_Equipment_Kongur_MRT_Jacket_100118.html
We're happy to donate some of the profits to the MRT - anyone have a contact name there?

The best person to talk to is Neil Roden, as he is the contact for basecamp, the fundraising arm of Mountain Rescue England and Wales. He can be contacted at the following email address nationalfundraising@mountain.rescue.org.uk

Shouldn't some of the profits from the retail sales of all equipment people are wearing when they are rescued go to Mountain Rescue!
i agreee and have it on a sliding scale of inapropriateness like if caught in a pair of levi's then you owe £500 with a £250 cotton T shirt bonus where as if your prepared and genuinly have fallen foul of nature and the mountian it can be less
Who would you trust most to get off a mountain safely: Al Hinkes in a cotton T, or someone who'd basically Clue Free who went out and bought "all the best gear"? There's far more to "being prepared" than ticks on a kit inventory. Pete.
That i agree but i think you'll agree you can spot some people a mile off that they arent prepared either in kit or experiance

Shouldn't some of the profits from the retail sales of all equipment people are wearing when they are rescued go to Mountain Rescue! maybe jackets could incorporate a little pocket for reciepts etc?
Ooh..... wearing trail shoes - inappropriate and underprepared???
or looking to move fast and lightly....... you decide xxx
Ah, but who decides if I get charged?

Walking about the hills with a look-alike MRT jacket? Wannabie charlatans.
Is it really such a good idea having people who look like like emergency service personnel on the hills? What's next, Fire Service and Paramedic uniforms for wearing on the high street? Wannabees? Probably! There's oodles of kit out there. Who else would choose this jacket?
Isn't that the whole point with MRT, they don't wear uniforms, if they did they would need to wear fluorescent saffron yellow to look like an "emergency" service. A red jacket hardly constitutes a "uniform," and indeed the only way one could tell that someone might be a member of an MRT, is that they are ALL wearing the same jackets, and not necessarily red either! Having worked on the air ambulance and spent hours searching for drab coloured casualties, I think that far from being "wanabees," people who take to the hills in bright highly coloured jackets are eminently sensible. Now if they wear saffron yellow fluorescent jackets on the hills, then they might indeed fal into the "wanabee" category!

I wouldn't buy one of these as knowing my luck the first time I wore it would be the first time I'd have to call out MRT - Look a bit silly then wouldn't you?
but (re opens can of worms) they would think ah what a sensible person and not charge you call out ; )

Hi, I've been looking around for a decent Jacket and came across the MRT by accident. Basically, its the only jacket that I like the look of, particularly with the re-inforced areas. I've never been in any rescue team and touch wood, never had any need to call anyone out. At the end of the day, its just a red jacket. I wouldn't dream of trying to look like a member of a rescue team, I just want a decent jacket. I think its a bit disappointing that some people have taken to object to members of the public buying this. Maybe ME should make it in a different colour for the rest of us?

I have been searching the internet for a while to find the best allround all weather jacket . The populair walking and hiking mags all suggest the M E Kongur. So it seems only logical that you dont choose black, pea soup or custurd colour if you would want to be found in an emergency, Lets face it, were not going to Afghanistan on a SAS secret mission! To be visible is a priority. The red Kongur jacket is an award winner so it only stands to reason that the MRT version excells above all. And when in the alps, cairngorms, or just cycling back from the pub , I'd gladly don the kongur MRT.
