Took some pictures of the new (nearly compleated) snowdon cafe Late afternoon on Sat, in some lovely sunny weather, looks a lot better than the old "highest slum in Wales"

I camped at Bwlch cwm llan (to the south by the lake) a great spot for a nice sunset, will post a few pics of that as well.

For another 3 pictures of the cafe and 3 of the sunset from that night, take a look at the rest of the album

Not the nicest building in the world, is it??!!??

Looks like it been built on the slant to me.   Won't all the tables and chairs slide to one end?

It was always going to stand out like a pickled onion in a fruit salad, could be worse.

Heh, I was at the Cwellyn Arms campsite all last week. The new cafe was lit up all night on Wednesday night. What a blot on the otherwise completely cloudy sky!

Can't believe I spent 7 nights there and saw no more than a handful of stars... last time out the milkyway was just SO impressive in the night sky.

The old one wasn't so bad given its age - it IS on top of a mountain after all so expectations should be realistic. This new one is dreadful and will only increase the number of chavs up there spoiling the atmos and leaving crap everywhere.

Interestingly the workers on the new building had all their tools nicked one night last year - some hardcore thieves in them there hills!

fantastic. it doesn't quite measure up to some of the best in the Alps, but it is far better than many at the same time.

I wouldn't want to see this sort of thing on other mountains, but I think this suits the Snowdonia mountains. maybe Ben Nevis could do with a facelift, then leave well alone.

A bloody ugly monstrosity, just like the previous one. How anyone was ever allowed to build a caff on the top of Wales' highest mountain is beyond me.
