Currently, things are hovering either side of freezing in most Lakeland dales. Then again, back in the year dot when I briefly worked at Wasdale Head, I remember the place being completely frozen over for weeks... but when I headed down the dale... there was no ice at all and it was more like spring by the time I reached the head of the lake!
If your planning on staying at the NT camp at Wasdale, don't its closed at the moment. It should reopen hopefully on the 7th in time for all of us doing Great Gable on remembrance Sunday.
The forecast for next week - on Wasdale Web - is looking pretty ok. Not too cold nights. But forecasts do change.
James,
Thanks for this advice. So it's the little site next to the pub, from Wednesday to Friday, then the NT site for the week end. (The little site becomes tent city, ready for Gable on Sunday).
No probs Nodrog, however further to my last info about the NT site, it may be worth ringing to see if its open now, although the NT web site says they are still closed, I was working near by today and I was told it had reopened
James
Oh, and there was a light frost at sea level and the high peaks looked like they had a sprinkling of Snow on top.
