You can visit also this website for amazing pictures of Nepal including the Annapurna circuit:

I wish I could go there again.

Okay, so appetite well and truly whetted where can I find some more information about how to do something like this?

Do I have to book on organised trip from home or can I hook up with group on arrival? Do you even have to travel with group or can you do it alone?

Any and all information appreciated

Do it on your own if you so desire. independent trekking in Nepal is very easy on certain routes . annnapurnas -everest -langtang all have lodges to stay in for a couple of quid a night. other trekking areas have restrictions so you have to go with a group. just get the latest guide book and away to go!

the only thing about solo trekking is if you get ill with altitude sickness you could die if theres no one to help like a travelling companion. dont expect the locals to help either, because they won't!

No problem, i've been to nepal 4 times and plan on going back next november.

 LOVE IT!!!!

organising your own trek is very easy, the hardest part is getting enough time off work!

I second that, the bishops finger. Getting the time off is a tricky one - we took 3 weeks off to do the Annapurna Circuit (although only 14 days of actual walking) so that we'd have a few free days to get to and from the trek, allow extra time for acclimatisation / sickness if needed, and leave some spare time for a celebration in Kathmandu at the end!

We did the trek independently though and, Nanahawk, I would certainly recommend that way of doing it if you're on a well-trodden route like the Annapurna Circuit and you have some trekking experience. There's no shortage of places to stay and getting lost isn't really an option - if you're in doubt at any junction in a village, the locals will all start pointing you in the right direction before you even ask.

If you don't have so much time, the Annapurna Base Camp trek is also easy to do as an independent trekker and it's considerably shorter. Two weeks off work would probably do the trick. And that's a stunning trek as well.
