 I'm shocked, pleased and humbled to announce that the 'backpackinglight' series of podcasts has won the first European Podcast Award for the UK Business section. This was all down to those who took the time to vote and I just wanted to thank anyone on OM and in the outdoor world who took the time to do so, resulting in us being voted top out of the 128 entrants. It is great to get any feedback at all for the 'wee small hours' spent on making these over the last few years, and winning such an accolade when up against some serious professional producers who make a living from it, is pleasing to say the least. Thanks again to everyone for downloading and enjoying them, and here's hoping that awareness of the content following this award will bring more people into the pastime to enjoy sharing and appreciating the world around us, on foot or any other form of self powered travel.

Thanks everyone, the feedback is much appreciated. My production count seems to be going down slowly and it is becoming more or a struggle to find the time, but I still love doing them and chatting to other outdoor enthusiasts. Just finishing one I did at the weekend, which will be up shortly, involving chestnuts and the honey stove!!

 I recently discovered these and, as well putting me onto new stuff, I like the very civilised British feel to them, in common with the best BBC R4 podcasts. Almost makes me nostalgic for the UK...
