Hi - Now can someone help me please. My sister and I both have 36" inside legs and are looking for walking trousers - preferably quick dry ones having got soaked whilst out walking yesterday. Not looking to pay a fortune as not sure how much use they will get but we are doing the 26mile Kielder Challenge in September - and its bound to rain! Also lightweight waterproof jackets with long long sleeves would be useful , and a bit length in the body too. Not asking for much really - its just the joys of being female and 6' !

A question after my own heart this Note my suggestions below are tested for tall/thin with over length limbs, perhaps not tall/normally built.

These are a decent choice. Tailored so they will fit properly, tough, good wind resistance. Dry pretty fast, and get a plausible light shower resistance if you wash them in soft shell wash from Nikwax. Not cheap mind. Might be worth it for you, as finding womens trousers anywhere near 36" inside leg won't be easy!

(its rather non trivial for men I have a couple of pairs I'm using for casual wear as well as one for walking.).

Rohan also do unhemmed bags up to 36" inside leg (and in Epic material.). Cheaper, comfort maybe not guaranteed at 36".

The longest sleeves I've found in a lightweight waterproof are on RABs Kinetic (or the '09 Slipstreams which Go outdoors have the odd size in.). Well the mens version at least, not tried the womens one on It seems a decent fabric/sane deisgn otherwise.

Thanks - a weekend shopping beckons - between walking of course! But I do like the sound of the made to measure ones - will just have to make sure that we get good use out of them.

Which could certainly be a problem. They're certainly very tough and do do well as casual trousers (which is how I use two of my pairs - just tired of trousers not fitting) which might help with that, but if not going to wear much then....

One thing I have just noticed is that RAB are claiming to do their womens traverse pants in the same leg lengths as the mens one - so 30/32/34 for short/medium/long. Very unusual that.

They also claim some stretch in the fabric which may help a bit with fit. Seems to depend on how much/if you catch the knee panels when lifting legs etc.

Climbers shop have some of the mens in long leg (but only from a large waist upwards) Whether or not they've made any in Womens long leg could be another matter. I wouldn't be at all surprised if not.

(finding stuff in long leg options for men in the UK is not easy, even when it does theoretically exist.).

Troll Omni pants are still a good option, may not be the most stylish or feature rich of trousers but for the price and the fact they will custom make them the lengh you want, for roughly the same price as you would pay off the shelf in a shop, think when i ordered a pair they came to about £38 and they are extremly comftable.

Another, reasonably notable, option opened up by Rohan:here.

Nothing like their full range mind but 32"/35" (or up to 38"/29 for people after short ones!) as a standard option, or size 10/33" IL for women, in rational fabrics (some sort of mid weight polyamide it seems, design perhaps more travel than pure walking but it'd probably do) certainly qualifies as notable.

Suppose we'll have to see if it spreads further into their range.

Pinewood Outdoors do a selection of long leg pants - "Pinewood Sahara Zip Off Trouser".  I bought some off eBay....  Very light fabric, drys quick and doesn't crease easily.  Made in Sweden.  One of the best purchases I have made in a long while, very comfortable to wear and they zip off to shorts for the warmer weather.
