Starting out?

Hello folks,

First time poster here. I'm looking to head up to loch lomond for a spot of camping in next few weeks. Preferably wild camping. I have done a fair bit of this before in the past (DoE gold and through scouting) and was wondering if anyone could recommend me a good spot to camp. Possibly with thoughts of doing a bit of walking around Ben Lomond weather permitting. Any advice would be great thanks

There's a little official/unofficial site in the trees near to the Youth Hostel and Hotel.

Good shelter fro mthe elements, and, beer/food nearby. Good location to do Ben Lomond.

Don't go there in midge season tho.

From memory, it is just past the YH.

I think it was signposted, but, I'm not sure.

The WHW people don't favour wild camping, but, they do sanction it here.

BTW, they can't stop you anywhere out of sight!!

Nodrod is correct, it is just just past Rowardennon YH  @ grid ref NS359986, and is noticable as the WHW passes right next to it, and is ideally located for bagging Ben Lomond. Responsible camping is usually well tolerated in the National Park so dont worry about that. Here is a picture of the site, I have not posted the one of myself skinny dipping in Loch Lomond, although I can email to anyone who is interested .
