How much will the new Nikwax cost?

With regard to cost -- what retailers charge depends upon them, but generally, less than the price of a pint.

Oh in my local you can get a pint and change out of £1.50.

But I dowt I'll get change for the nikwax.

Kind of lost the plot here ... but anyway -- I drink Guinness usually so perhaps that's more expensive ... it's on the Nikwax web quiz now, by the way ...

By the way, the bite tabs have snapped off my Velez smock, and the velcro is shagged on the cuffs but the shop I bought it from has closed. Am I still able to have it repaired?

Hi Answers to some of the questions:

First on the wax --- you can use it on a any smooth leather boots. It is the most effective product that we have tested in terms of reducing water absorbency, and yet maintains breathability -- and you can put it straight on your boots after washing the mud off ...

Second, on repairs to Páramo. All Páramo Waterproof garments have a life time guarantee. If a garment has been damaged by accident and heavy wear, we may make a charge for repair. Any faults due to faulty parts will be repaired free of charge. It would be highly unusual for Páramo not to be able to repair a garment, however old it it.

As far as the Bees Wax thing is concerned - I am not sure where you go that from but not from us. We use mineral waxes ... beeswax is a bit too edible by microbes in my opinion. The clever thing with the new wax is that it is a highly concentrated water-based dispersion which becomes highly water-repellent as soon as it dries or is diluted with more water ...

It has to be said that many of my customers still prefer the old type Nikwax.

Actualy ALT-BERG do/did suggest this as an alernative to Leder Gris, it is a sod to find, but locally Yeomans stock it.

The tin stuff is fantastic and I still prefer to use it. I didn't realise that it was such an old and tried product.

 I have found another shop selling it if anyone is interested....
