Not as hard as it looks on one of the highest Munros in the southern Highland area.

Look out too for the substantial remains of wrecked aircraft at 271263, at the head of a steep gully; a short detour off the SW ridge.

Welcome to the forum there Steve! Great first post too. Any more details of the aircraft in question there for us all please, as we've a few folks here that are keen on visiting the aircraft crash sites in the hills.

For those wanting a bit more fun, Centre Gully is one of the best introductions to winter climbing in Scotland.  From the corrie floor it's a gradually steepening trudge straight up to the top, usually with some sort of cornice. There's nothing technically difficult about it; just a pretty steep section like an elongated 'S' bend near the top with good protection sites at either side. The good thing about it for novice climbers is that if you did slip, (unlikely), you'd probably, barring avalanches, just slide to the bottom.

There used to be a quicker and better way in than from Cononish: a mile or so down the Oban road, cross the railway and head up across the moor traversing the hill on its North side. Unfortunately, it's now almost totally blocked by impenetrable forestry plantations.

There are also some wonderful bum glissades down that side.

Should have added that in bad weather take care with compass readings. That whole area has a bad rep as regards mag. interference and we've had strange readings on the summit of Lui.
