  Yummy stuff sacs!

They do look it - especially since they seem to be about half the weight of the rather nice outdoor designs airstream stuff sacs that they're presumably replacing I'll have to hunt for a few! (iirc OD/Rab/Pod are all owned by the same people now?)

Hi Martin. Yes Pod is the new name for outdoor designs, thus the old outdoor designs kit is now known as pod, which may give it a new lease of life and hopefully see it in a few more shops! When I recently bought an outdoor designs ultralight rucksack liner (as opposed to their standard weight one) it turned out that only ONE store in the the whole of the UK stocked them! I would reccomend the OD/pod rucksack liner to anyone who is into lightweight gear. It is very similar to the sea to summit ones, but has a much more user friendly opening, being much wider and easier/quicker to clip together .

Shame they haven't done pack liners which fit the POD sacks perfectly.

Rocky. oooh meeow But true, and a very valid point
Maybe they will now, in the new lines!
I am sure they were inundated with folks telling them the pack liners were'nt an ideal fit there after all.

Ooops, bit of cross wires I think. What I meant was - it's a shame POD don't do rucksack liners. Rather than - POD rucksack liners don't fit their own packs. On re-reading Ray's post it appears they do make rucksack liners. Any links, as I can't find anything on their website.

Tricky stuff this - basically you need to (until the websites are updated!) look at outdoors designs' website Them + RAB are owned by the same parent company now and they seem to have decided to rationalise POD as the brand name for all rucksack/storage related things. Sensible really. So this storage stuff basically seems to be ODs range rebranded, with some useful updates such as lighter fabrics etc added on the way. They've done the same thing for some of ODs gloves - the RAB phantom grip glove seems to basically be a rebranded OD taku stretch. I've always found ODs hats/gloves fairly easy to find (unlike their storage!) so I imagine they will survive as a hat/glove brand but they might be planning to roll that bit of them into RAB. I have no idea

Hi rocky, and sorry for the slander..But it did sound funny. As mentioned earlier, the only store stocking the OD ultralight liners was Peglers. I cannot remember where they where, as they were on the opposite side of the country to me, but I'm sure an internet search will find them (hang on, Arundel springs to mind). Maybe peglers will stock the newly branded Pod stuff. I only found Peglers by ringing OD direct. The rep from OD said they sell plenty to Northern Europe and the USA, but not the UK.

Don't Outdoor designs use Gore-tex in their gloves? I mite be thinking of a different company but it would be wierd for them to use Gore-Tex in OD but eVent in RAB kit.
Outdoor Designs no longer use Goretex (and haven't for a couple of years) for the reason you mention. They use eVent and their own 'Watergate' fabric particulatly in products such as gaiters.

Peglers are down in Arundle West Sussex, they have couple of shops in the town.

Enlightening stuff... now I know what's going on. One minute, I never saw any Pod stuff, and now I see it everywhere. Heck... I even got myself a 50-60 litre Pod pack liner the other week. I'll never use a pack of that size, but I can guarantee being able to roll down the topmost 20 litres of the liner to ensure an absolute waterproof closure. Weighs 85g by the way!

Hi Paddy. That is the very liner I use in my OMM Villain. Used it for some time now, and still looks brand new. I seem to have gotten into the habit of rolling it down, and leaving a fair amount of air still inside, as this acts as a cushion to sensitive or fragile pack contents!
Ray - I'm rather hoping that using it as a partial airbag will assist on some potentially awkward river crossings I'm facing later this year. Before that, however, the same approach might cushion my pack against the baggage mis-handlers at the airport!

Hi Paddy. Yes using roll top dry bags for river crossings, or even just to stop your pack sinking if dropped is a top idea, and one often overlooked. EDITED TO ADD: of course, if you had bought the large size, then you could have put your entire pack, plus clothing in it! Ooh er missus, but maybe you know what I mean.
