"Let you eyes adjust" presumes there is enough light about (even moonlight) for your eyes to detect. If there isnt, no matter how well adjusted your eyes, you wont be able to see anything.
As Kate has pointed out - presuming the trip is costing you a few £ hundred whats £6 or £10 ?
And...as you have a kit list to refer to, I presume you are with some sort of organised party, if the organisers think you need one...get one. As a party leader, I get very frustrated with clients who get a kit list then proceed to ignore it/pick and choose. I/we (as leaders) dont put extraneous extras on kit lists as a rule. Everything is on it for a purpose.
By the way, the torch I refered to above uses AAA batteries and gives about 8 hours from a set of three - suggest you take some extras with you
take a set cruiser and a good top layer. if you are going towards the end of September you may need rain gear too.
How much of the week will be at altitude, Imlil or above? I hope you have min 24 hours at Imlil before heading up to the summit? Acclimatisation and all that.
That said, Marrakech is a great place to visit too!
yeah last week in Sep (it was best for flight prices, it's all about the money )
i have waterproofs ok. any links for what you would recommend on top? thermal long johns and vest will be easy to source i guess. i have an old wynnster fleece that is very warm when moving around and warm enough when idle but you just don't know I guess.
it is a travel company trip. spend a day in marrakech then of to the mountains. i would hope the walking in the days before is designed to acclimatise us
You'll need a good down or synthitic jacket and thermals, it's the begining of the winter season then. Temps can be -20c or below during the day, lower at night.
I'd recommend a sleeping bag rated to at least -20c. the refuge/s you stay at before summit bid have little in the way of heating, a wood burning stove in middle of room when I was there.
I even heard of partys having to turn back because snow was to deep, or snow/storms was to heavy, even in September.
Take what's on your kit list, you my need all of it. Toubkal can be very dodgy in winter.
yeah Bev like I say that was the best date for flight prices, i need all the money I can get for gear that I don't already have and flying from N.Ireland adds that extra awkward ingredient
i've done as much homework as possible I suppose. but you just have to go for it too I suppose. I'm just going to make sure I'm as fit as possible, prepared and I won't take any silly risks. take it as it comes and enjoy it
