Super light, super breathable and priced under £100 - too good to be true?

yep likewise - the uncovered zip looks like it could be a possible weak point?

Just got back from the LAMM with my new Mica jacket. Day 1 hot and sunny so just glad it was tiny. Day 2 up atop a munroe in lashing rain with just the trusty patagonia Zip T underneath. Fabric works well. Hard to know if it is letting in or not breathing but in those conditions everything is clammy, but I reckon it worked OK in just the conditions it was supposed to.Pretty amazing seeing how gossamer thin it is. It's a pity they didn't go the whole hog and make a smock with a longish zip - even lighter - and a single packaway pocket. Then it would be superlative

A few of gripes.
1. No hood retainer, which is pretty much essential. Even on a mildly breezy day it flaps around annoyingly. You can solve this with a bit of self adhesive velcro stuck on the inside in the middle of the label. Then you can fold the hood in on itself and use the velcro in the volume adjuster. I wrote to Marmot but they said they didn't recommend any adhesive as it might damage the fabric, but it seems OK on mine.
2. It's a bit of a weird cut. It seems to ruck up in the middle so the zip bows out like you've got a horn in the middle of your stomach. The resulting fold then collects water. Bizarre.
3. The hood doesn't turn well with your head but I accept this given the lightness of the material
4. You can't use the pockets when you have a pack on, but I guess they're ok round town or at camp. Pack into own pocket is very handy - those tiny stuffsacks always get lost
3. The Haglofs OZ looks about 10,000 times sexier.

In summary, cheap, very small and light, fabulous material, and it works fine but I think Marmot could have spent more time on the design and done much better.

Thanks for the review, Andy! How did the LAMM go? I'm still trying to sort out entering it one of these years .
