We have rented a villa from a friend in the Jalon Valley in spain and luckily it is a mountainous region (although nothing much higher than a bit over 1000M).

 I've found a good website with walks and it mentions PRV footpaths - does anyone have any info on what these are or can point me in the direction of a site that explains what they are? A friend has recommended the OS type Military maps he has of the area so will hopefully pick one up from Stanfords in London next week.

PRV probably stands for Provincia de Valencia (I think the Jalon is in Valencia) - I have been to other Spanish areas and the rutas/senderismos are often 'Provincia de....'

Have a look around here - and try searching for rutas, senderismo and Jalon valley perhaps?

Unless they have improved dramatically the old military maps used to be sh**e; maybe have a search again for other mapping or guides - although your friend is more likely to be better on this than me.
