Just wondered what would be the mostly likely place to find Alcohol/Meths in spain for a stove ?Also what is alcohol/meths translated in to spainish?(alcohol de quemar?)
alcohol de 96 (and a degree symbol) - it's surgical spirit (aka meths) without the nasty castor oil they put in the stuff in the uk. it has a small amount of disinfectant added - cloruro cetylpridinio - as the name says, it's 96% denatured alcohol. comes in an opaque plastic bottle.
i'm looking at a bottle bought from a spar supermarket.
my interest in this stuff (apart from it's flammability) stems from having a braun electric razor that has a cleaning station in which you put a cartridge. close inspection of this expensive plastic cartridge revealed that it only contained denatured alcohol. the uk stuff is useless because of the castor oil, sticky razor anyone, but this stuff works a treat. sometimes it pays to be an inveterate label reader.
the spanish, quite sensibly, let people drink this if they wish albeit it is probably an expensive way to rot your liver.
as i don't have a garden, or a kitchen worth it's name, i had fun setting fire to assorted things (what are you bringing THAT for!?!) in the safety of the outdoors and to the horror of the local spanish small wildlife. curiously it was cheaper than barbeque lighting fluid!

Same goes for most european supermarkets and garden centres......the best I have seen was a kit for blowing up moles....complete with miniture sticks of dynamite! Instructions on how to blow up mole....a page. Safety instructions....?
