Just spent 2 weeks in my Akto in Scotland and it was fab. Obviously nothing's perfect but the Akto is pretty close, mine's had a few tweaks (double guys, toe-print, guyline slider on the tension chord - thanks to Hayden for his advice & help) and I have only one issue with it: What do you guys do about the flap when the door is open? There's only one tie-back and it's too close to the head end to keep the flap out of the way. I ended up using a chord attached to the inside zip pull for the vent and rolling the flap up and using this to tie it up. Is this wise? will it put too much strain on the vent zip seam? I'm sure there's a simple solution and I've missed it. Advice really welcome.

DOH! You close the vent first!!! I kept thinking it was odd that it wouldn't work for me!! LO

Ahhh - you mean yours was zipped down to the bottom not the top??

I still had the vent open, with the top zipper on the door zip pulled down about 5 inches. I spent 2 weeks wondering why the tie-back wouldn't retain the flap, whether there should be 2 tie-backs etc etc. 10 minutes on here and I realised that a, the solution was obvious; b, I am a clutz Thanks all

My akto has arrived in tact! I will have a look at mine as I have an extra loop stitched to the door which aids this issue but I can't remember exactly how. I put the loop at the bottom of the door zip so I could unzip the door but leave it pegged in place for added ventilation in foul weather and it can be used to aid the problem you describe. Glad my mods were of use!

Thanks Hayden. A pic or detailed description would be much appreciated - quite happy taking a needle to the fly (or getting my Mum to do it ) but I'd rather do it just the once / in the right place. BTW the toe print is inspired, worked fantastically. It's so good I'm amazed no-one has put them into production

FB - where's the site of your first pic? Looks a bit Dartmoor-ish - and I have a feeling you are no stranger to this lovely part of the world! The weather looks a bit Dartmoor-ish, too.

I will try and get a pic but the loop is at the very bottom of the door and I stitched through the door zipper fabric rather than the actual flysheet which is not strong enough for this type of thing without a re-enforcing patch etc. Good luck!

Oh, just remembered, when you want to use the plastic tab to hold the door open roll the door up from the foot end and try to keep as much of the door as you can belowthe tab - it will hold much better.
