Amazingly I got a Coleman canister in the Spar in Conca in July. I imagine they keep them in specially for foreigners who haven't been able to bring gas canisters on the plane etc.
Hang on there, what plane/airline would let you carry these! A light aircraft only maybe. They are confiscatable items in all airports I have ever been in. Great cabinet collection of them in Chicago!

No Matt! I did not, you are jumping to conclusions there, and the wrong ones at that. The poster definitely suddenly mentions planes! The statement is incorrect was what I was pointing out, nothing else bud!
gas residue! Brilliant. Especially given that you are allowed one box of matches or one (non disposable) cigarette lighter : see here
I nearly got in hot water for carrying one of these:
A little rocket LED keyring that I got as a free-be on one of my spacey conferences. They said '... but you know what it looks like, sir' and I said 'it looks a bit like a keyring to me' and they weren't very amused. Don't forget that bringing a sense of humour to the job is a sacking offence for customs officials (apologies if any OMers work as such... that's called a joke and we're allowed to use them in the real world )
That is nothing! In the immediate aftermath of Sept 11th 2001 atrocities the flights going between the USA and Europe were seeing kids having their Action men toys stripped of military weapons, like tiny toy submachine guns, pistols, knives and rifles.

I'm still confused - The OP said they were flying to Marseilles and getting the ferry to Corsica and a taxi to Conca. I suggest that the Spar in Conca may be a source of gas canisters for people who haven't been able to bring them because they have flown some part of their journey to Conca - so just which bit of the statement (and which statement?) is incorrect (besides confusing Conca and Calenzana)?
Fiona, I think that some people (not me) are interpreting your statement as 'some foreigners , but not all, are able to bring gas canisters on the plane'. I suggest you ignore them and they possibly, but not probably, will go away.
