I've now got one of these and been incredibly impressed with it so far, though early days. I held off for a long time as I didn't like the red and then yellow trim, but Climbers Shop did a special version with blue trim and it passed my acceptable look rules (though I would have preferred all black) - and my acceptable price rules when they took £50 off the price. Actually, for many people, the blue trim would probably be their choice, but they don't call me the hill ninja for nothing.
It strikes me so far as much more breathable than other softshells, though a little less windresistant. Making it a much better summer shell but a much worse winter one. I've worn it in low level snow walks and found it just about warm enough, so long as kept walking at pace and it wasn't too windy. On the more moderate days we've had since Christmas (when I got it), it has been a perfect top with a tee shirt and long sleeved shirt under (both thinish Merino). Definitely less sweaty than anything like Gore Windstopper etc. For a summer all day walk, I will probably use it with just a tee shirt under and find it perfect.
Not used it in rain yet, so I can't comment on that.
Fit is pretty much the ME norm, so no extra long gorilla arms as on some Rab gear. Large fits me pretty perfectly and I am pretty much a standard wide shouldered, normal waisted large or occasionally extra large for tight fitting kit. Hood folds away neatly, so that it looks like a hoodless jacket most of the time.
For a direct comparison, I also have an ME Velocity. It is about the same weight, less windproof and much more breathable. The Velocity will not get a look in during the warmer weather, but for lowland winter walks I will still prefer it (for proper winter hillwalking I prefer the G2).
