Would like to get on a good Campsite for a tent, by Whitby or Robin hoods bay this coming Bank Holiday, preferably within walking distance to one if possible,(walking to and from pubs at night) Can`t get there till the Sat, so would like to turn up, or book ahead for 2 nights.
Any other suggestions for other good campsites within walking distance to nice villages/small towns, with good pubs and real ale will also be welcome, Doing a bit of a tour, from North Yorks, south via East midlands, then towards, and no further than East Anglia, then west towards the Cotswolds.
pretty much half way between Whitby and rhb. Nice people, it was the beginning of April and a bitterly easterly was blowing in. They offered me the laundrette to sleep in!
Stopped at Hooks House campsite just outside RHB earlier this year. Good facilities and a spectacular view across the bay. Can't remember how pricey it was, but I do recall being really happy. We didn't book ahead and had no trouble getting a pitch. I don't think they do pre-booking, so as long as you're early in the day, you should be fine.
Hooks House would be my first choice. Middlewood Farm in Fylingthorpe (pub does reasonable food) and the campsite behind the Flask Inn (easy access to NYM) are also ok.
we are booked in here next weekend. Might be a bit far from Whitby, 9 miles approx, but it seems OK. we couldn't get in at Robin Hoods or a couple of others.
I emailed Hooks hall, about booking, their booking form was a bit confusing about how much deposite they needed, it only mentioned £20 with hook up electric , which we do not need, I got a responce :-
"I am sorry but we work on a first come first served basis and have been busy and full every night during August. Spaces do become available every day but are quickly filled so suggest if you do try to come, come early."
strange that they have a booking form? and nowhere does it mention a first come first served basis. confusing.
